Best way to mend a hacky sack?
my son cut open his (commercially) crocheted hacky sack to let out some of the beads, and now wants me to sew it shut…
to do this efficiently, while keeping it as round and evenly balanced as possible, i wanted to know the best way to go about it:
should i attach thread to the long end from where he cut it and proceed to sew it shut, or should i knot that and sew it shut from the loops?
also, is it better to use a similar thick thread, like it’s made of, or thin, strong, nylon thread? i happen to have both on hand.
experienced advice appreciated…as he’s quite serious about his hacky sacking.

Most hacky sacks are done in a crochet stitch. The most effective way to keep the shape is to join a strand of crochet cotton to the last secure stitch and crochet the hole by picking up all the secure stitches and single crocheting into all of them in rounds, decreasing each row as you get closer to the centre of the repair. If you just darn it, you will end up with a flat spot.
